Most of our residential work happens during new construction or major renovations — when walls are open, ceilings are accessible, and integration decisions can be made before finishes are installed. That's when the technology can be designed into the house rather than retrofitted around it.
We coordinate directly with architects, interior designers, and general contractors. Technology decisions — speaker placement, equipment location, conduit routing, power requirements — get resolved early, when they're easy and inexpensive to address. The alternative is making those decisions after drywall is up, which limits options and increases cost.
We start with the architectural plans and a conversation about how you expect the house to function. Which rooms need audio. Where you'll watch TV. Whether you want a dedicated theater. How lighting and shading should behave. What level of automation makes sense for your household.
From that we produce a system design — a detailed plan showing speaker locations, equipment placement, cable routing, and control interfaces. The design gets coordinated with the architect and reviewed with you before anything is ordered or installed.
Installation happens in phases as construction progresses. Rough-in during framing — conduit, in-wall and in-ceiling rough brackets, speaker wire, network cabling. Trim-out after finishes — mounting devices, terminating cables, installing equipment racks and panels. Programming and commissioning once the house is functional — setting up control systems, calibrating audio, testing integration points.
We work on the general contractor's schedule and coordinate around other trades. Installation is managed by our own technicians — no subcontractors, no handoffs to third parties who weren't involved in the design.
Once installation is complete we commission the system — verify that everything operates as designed, calibrate audio and video, program scenes and automation routines, and walk you through how it all works. Training is done on-site, at your pace, focused on the features you'll actually use.
Documentation is provided — system diagrams, equipment lists, and instructions for basic troubleshooting. Warranty and support terms are clear from the start.
We design systems around Crestron and Control4 — the two platforms with the integration depth, reliability, and long-term support that high-end residential installations require. Both are professional-grade control systems. Both integrate lighting, audio, video, climate, and security into unified control. The distinction comes down to scale and customization requirements.
Control4 is the better choice for most residential projects. It's a mature, well-supported platform with extensive integration capabilities, reliable hardware, and a straightforward programming model. Setup and configuration is faster than Crestron, which translates to lower project cost for equivalent functionality.
Control4 handles whole-home audio and video distribution well, integrates cleanly with third-party devices, and offers mobile and touchpanel control interfaces that work reliably without constant tweaking. For properties where the goal is functional automation without custom interface design, it's the right answer.
Crestron is the platform for projects that demand full custom control — bespoke user interfaces, complex automation logic, or integration with systems outside the standard residential product ecosystem. It's more capable than Control4 and more expensive to design, program, and support.
We specify Crestron when the scope justifies it: large estates with extensive automation requirements, homes with commercial-grade AV systems, or clients who require highly customized control interfaces. For straightforward residential automation, the additional cost and complexity rarely deliver proportional value.
A home theater is more than a large screen and a good sound system. It's an acoustically treated room with properly calibrated audio, appropriate display technology for the viewing distance, comfortable seating, and control interfaces that let you start a movie without consulting a manual.
We design theaters to the same standards you'd expect in a commercial cinema — but tailored to residential scale and usage patterns. That means addressing acoustic treatment, HVAC noise, light control, equipment heat dissipation, and seating layout before selecting speakers and displays.
Large-format direct-view displays have gotten good enough that projection is no longer the default choice for home theaters. For screen sizes under 120 inches, a high-end LED display often delivers better image quality, requires less maintenance, and eliminates concerns about ambient light and projection throw distance.
Projection still makes sense for very large screens, dedicated theater rooms with controlled lighting, and installations where the aesthetic goal is a traditional cinema presentation. We specify laser projectors for residential — longer lamp life, better color accuracy, and instant on/off compared to traditional lamp-based units.
Theater audio is where proper design matters most. Speaker placement, room acoustics, and calibration determine whether a system sounds like a cinema or a loud conference room. We design to Dolby Atmos standards when the room supports it — ceiling height, speaker placement, and acoustic treatment all factor into whether immersive audio is feasible or whether a traditional 7.1 or 5.1 layout is the better approach.
Acoustic treatment — absorption panels, bass traps, diffusion — is non-negotiable for a theater that sounds right. We coordinate acoustic panel placement with the interior designer so treatment integrates into the room design rather than looking like an afterthought.
Whole-home audio should be as simple as turning on a light switch. Select a source, pick a room, adjust volume. No multi-step processes, no apps that require troubleshooting, no zones that mysteriously stop working.
We design distributed audio systems around reliability and ease of use. Centralized amplification and distribution, quality in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, and control interfaces — wall keypads, touchpanels, or mobile apps — that any household member can operate without instruction.
For clients who stream most content, we integrate Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and other services directly into the control system. For those with local music libraries, we design server-based playback with proper backup and redundancy. High-resolution audio, when it matters to the client, is supported throughout the signal chain.
Outdoor audio requires different equipment and different design than indoor systems. Speakers rated for weather, appropriate coverage patterns for open spaces, and amplification that accounts for the lack of room boundaries. Outdoor audio done correctly is a system designed for the environment, not repurposed indoor equipment mounted outside.
Residential networks are no longer optional. Streaming services, work-from-home requirements, security cameras, smart home devices, and distributed AV systems all depend on reliable Wi-Fi and adequate bandwidth. A poorly designed network undermines every other technology system in the house.
We design residential networks with enterprise-grade equipment — Ubiquiti, Cisco, Ruckus — rather than consumer routers and extenders. Proper AP placement for full coverage, VLANs to segment traffic and improve security, and managed switches that support the bandwidth and PoE requirements of IP cameras and other networked devices.
Structured cabling — CAT6A runs to every room that might need wired connectivity, home-run topology back to a central network rack — ensures that the infrastructure supports current and future requirements without costly retrofits.

A dedicated home theater with acoustics, seating, and high-end projection typically starts around $75,000 and scales from there depending on room size and finish level. Full-home automation with lighting control, shading, distributed AV, security, and network infrastructure can range from $100,000 to $500,000+ depending on property size and system complexity.
The cost drivers are always the same: system scope, equipment quality, installation complexity, and integration requirements. New construction is less expensive to wire than retrofits. Homes with complex architectural details or inaccessible spaces cost more to integrate cleanly. Custom programming and interface design add cost compared to out-of-the-box configurations.
